ABOUT US:
Anna's Angels has been established to honor the memory of Founder Tim Tipton's mother, the late Anna Mae Norton and to continue her work in breaking the cycle of poverty that exists in Eastern Tennessee by giving boys and girls a vision and helping hand through college scholarships.
Anna, herself was born and raised deep in the hills of Western North Carolina among economically devastated farmers and miners who despite all held on to their rich cultural heritage of music, crafts and storytelling, but had no means to translate their talents into academic skills. Anna was able to further her education and spent her life trying to improve the health and education levels, while preserving the beauty of, her mountain people. In her small and personal way with whatever funds she could scrimp and save, she put kids on the road to higher education.
Anna's Angels is dedicated to building a strong power base, in both people and financial resources to support the new generation of Appalachian children, who want to go beyond the hilltop, the hollow, the poverty and violence and become teachers, nurses and entrepenuers, particulary in the field of health and small business. Returning to their communities with these valuable 21st century skillsets would do my mother proud.
Please take a few minutes to consider how you can help East Tennessee children who want to go beyond the poverty and violence by making financial contributions or by giving items of your choice that can be used to sell in our thrift store.
